Board of Directors

In 2004, the Iowa City Area Development Group celebrated a major milestone - 20 years of innovative service to the business community. Our purpose is simple: connect business and industry with federal, state and local resources to enhance and stimulate area economic growth through business retention, expansion and attraction efforts; and advance, develop and advocate for the area's workforce. Our staff publicizes our services and the area through an effective marketing campaign, helping new and existing businesses locate, grow and expand, and helping attract one of the most highly-skilled workforces in the state.

Our Board of Directors has grown from nine to 29 investors - 20 represent the private sector; and nine represent the public sector, communities served, Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa.

For more than two decades, our nonprofit organization has served hundreds businesses, helping create thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in investments in our communities.

• Formulate policy, strategic plans, work programs, budgets and monitor objectives and achievement
• Provide personal leadership, enthusiasm and support to build an effective development organization
• Promote and actively represent the organization and our program of work
• Maintain a positive approach regarding area development matters
• Work constructively and harmoniously with board, officers and staff
• Inspire others to respond to worthwhile causes sponsored by our organization and motivate others to develop solutions to community issues
• Provide resources to ensure an effective program, staff and funding
• Fulfill board requirements as outlined in the bylaws
