Missions
The Iowa City Area Development Group serves the business development needs of primary sector companies in our service territory.
Our private, nonprofit economic development 501.c.6 organization connects business and industry with federal, state and local resources to enhance and stimulate area economic growth through business retention, expansion and attraction efforts, and advances, develops and advocates for our area workforce. From industrial development to quality of life, the Iowa City Area Development Group is a strong community advocate, making the Iowa City area and the state of Iowa your best link to location, labor and a whole lot more.
Formed in 1984, the group serves the communities of Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Kalona, Solon, Tiffin, Tipton, the Amana Colonies, West Branch, West Liberty and Johnson County.
Goals 2007-2011
- Recruit 12 new targeted companies to the area
- Assist 30 existing business expansions
- Attract or retain 2,880 jobs in the area that pay $18/hour in wages and benefits
- Assist $250 million in new capital investment in our communities
Vision
The Iowa City Area Development Group will become the best economic development organization in Iowa and Midwest. It will provide core services to improve workforce, business attraction, retention and expansion for primary sector companies, targeted industries and technology-based companies.
