IC Open Coffee Also that Day at IC CoLab

Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation, a program of the Kauffman Foundation presents its 1 Million Cups (1MC) program in Iowa City on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the IC CoLab, 316 E Court in Iowa City.

Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation originally created 1MC as a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in the community.  The 1MC program offers local upstart companies an opportunity to present their businesses to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, entrepreneurs and interested community members.  These events are all free and open to the public.

The May 15 presentation will feature live pitches from two local startup teams:

  • The first presentation will feature Roby Miller, founder of Iowa City-based TelePharm, which uses state-of-the-art pharmacy software to keep smaller towns equipped with pharmaceutical resources.
  • The second presentation will feature Dan Sweeney and Riley Eynon-Lynch, co-founders of Iowa City based startup ActiveGrade, sharing a new project they've started codenamed Inquiry. Inquiry is a next generation Student Response System (SRS) focused on real-time classroom analytics.

Mark Nolte, ICAD Group President, says 1MC is becoming a popular series at the ICCoLab. “Rotating these events with Vault Coworking & Collaboration Space in Cedar Rapids allows our entire region to experience the burgeoning innovation and entrepreneurship in our area,” said Nolte.  “This has been a successful partnership and we’re looking forward to building upon the success of our first few events.”

IC CoLab hosts these recurring events in Iowa City, in cooperation with Vault Coworking & Collaboration Space in Cedar Rapids, which launched the 1 Million Cups Program in Iowa’s Creative Corridor in March.

Additionally, Iowa City Open Coffee, an ongoing entrepreneurial networking event which launched last fall, hosts its weekly gathering at IC CoLab from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. to serve as the lead-up event. On Wednesday, May 15, the schedule at Iowa City CoLab will include Open Coffee from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 1MC from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

No registration is necessary.
