BioTechnology Networking Event June 23
6/8/2010First Two Networking Events Focused on Simulation/Software and Renewable Energy
The Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD Group), in partnership with the University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA), will end its networking happy hours series with an event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Vine, 39 2nd Street, in Coralville.
June’s alumni happy hour will highlight continued growth of BioTechnology in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Technology Corridor. Featured guests include representatives from local companies such as Integrated DNA Technologies, VIDA Diagnostics, Bio::Neos, Kempharm, and Compleware.
The Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Tech Corridor has been at the forefront of BioTechnology throughout its history. By the late 1880s, our area was home to the fourth state university-run pharmacy program in the nation and leading research in science and agriculture.
“ICAD Group participated during a bio-mixer a few months ago in North Liberty and the number of biotech companies in our area is surprising,” said DaLayne Williamson, ICAD Group Workforce Business Services Director. “All of these companies, as well as multiple departments at the University of Iowa, are dedicated to research, development and innovation in agricultural, environmental, health, and industrial biotechnology products and services.”
“We’ve had a great cross section of attendees at our last two events, including job seekers, interested alumni, and industry representatives. We encourage anyone wanting to know more about BioTechnology to join us,” added Williamson.
The networking event is open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
