Two ICAD Investors Win in Architect Group Awards

ICAD Group Investors OPN Architects and Neumann Monson Among Winners

Several Iowa architecture firms and professionals received various honors at the Central States Region/American Institute of Architects Iowa Chapter Awards in Des Moines last weekend in Des Moines.

OPN Architects of Cedar Rapids, Neumann Monson Architects of Iowa City and Mark Smith of Smith & Wood Construction of Iowa City, were among award winners.

OPN and Neumann Monson won Merit Awards in the Excellence in Design category for the Central States Region. OPN was recognized for the OPN Architects offices. Jurors noted the "conscious use of layers, spaces and information." Neumann Monson was awarded for the Davenport Police Facility, which jurors said was a "remarkable humane and light-filled solution for an often overlooked building type."

OPN also won an Iowa Excellence in Design award for design of the John Deere Harvester Works Visitor's Center and Offices in East Moline, Ill. Jury comments included, "This is an exemplary transformation of the type of industrial building that usually blights landscapes throughout America."
