$4.5 Million Coming to Area in Defense Projects

Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, has secured $11.12 million in defense projects for Eastern Iowa, including more than $4.5 million for those involving Coralville and the University of Iowa.
Loebsack said the projects include tools and equipment to protect those in the armed services in addition to funds to continue research on the health of those who work on national security.
Included in the funding:
- $3.2 million for the Low Cost GPS Receiver Program, Rockwell Collins, Coralville.
- $1.6 million for the Next Generation Manufacturing Technologies Initiative, University of Iowa.
- $720,000 for the Epidemiologic Health Survey of DOD Contract Workers at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, University of Iowa.
