Local leaders new to the Iowa City area to be featured

The Fall 2010 Welcome Reception, an event designed to unite and network area residents, employers, cultural organizations and communities, will be held Monday, November 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Ferguson Center on the ACT Campus, 200 ACT Drive, in Iowa City.

The event is free and open to the public.  Complimentary appetizers and refreshments will be provided by ACT.  Registration is available online at www.icadgroup.com/welcome.

The evening is dedicated to networking and making connections.  Established residents and new members of the community are encouraged to attend.  Local leaders new to the Corridor will be recognized, including:

• Steve Murley, ICCSD Superintendent

• Tim Bradshaw, Eastern Iowa Airport

• Joe Barry, Mercer

• Joe Baker, Acciona

• Jon Whitmore and additional new ACT staff

• Abby Ballain, Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance

• Phillip Burns, P&G

• Jeanette Pilak, UNESCO City of Literature

The Iowa City Area Development Group, Priority One and the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Program Alumni, along with Jon Whitmore and ACT, are sponsoring the Welcome Reception.

In addition to networking, attendees can learn more about regional non-profit organizations dedicated to creating partnerships and collaborations, including Diversity Focus, the Eastern Iowa Human Resources Association, Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance, ImpactCR, Priority One, ICAD Group and the Iowa City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program Alumni.
