Rockwell Collins was named Innovator of the Year at the 2012 Flightglobal Achievement Awards held July 11 at TAG Farnborough Airport.

The company was recognized for introducing the industry’s first touch-control primary flight displays. The displays, available for Pro Line Fusion® integrated avionics, make it easier for pilots to input information on their flight, and empowers pilot with natural head-up, eyes-forward interfaces.

Colin Mahoney, vice president, sales and marketing, Commercial Systems for Rockwell Collins, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“It’s a great honor to be named 'Innovator of the Year' in the presence of so many other well respected names in our industry,” said Mahoney. “We take innovation very seriously at Rockwell Collins. Each year, we spend nearly 20 percent of our sales in R&D so that we can develop technologies like this one that make flying safer and more efficient for our customers.”

Rockwell Collins topped a poll on flightglobal.com, where voters had to choose their favorites from a shortlist in the 'Innovator of the Year’ category.

The event was sponsored by AJW Aviation, Bombardier and Boeing, and hosted by Flight International editor Murdo Morrison.
