City of Coralville to Rename Street in Coach's Honor

First Avenue between Interstate 80 and Highway 6 in Coralville Renamed as Hayden Fry Way

A new festival honoring longtime Iowa Football Coach Hayden Fry has been announced.  The festival, Fry Fest 2009, will be held on September 4, 2009, over Labor Day weekend.

In honor of former coach Fry and the festival, the Coralville City Council will issue a proclamation at its March 10 meeting co-naming First Avenue between Interstate 80 and Highway 6 in Coralville as Hayden Fry Way.

The festival, presented by the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the University of Iowa and the city of Coralville, features a Hawkeye tradeshow and tailgate party at the Coralville Marriott, a pep rally and concert and more.

Hayden Fry Way will be unveiled publicly at a special ceremony with Mr. Fry that morning.
