Tips for Improving Resumes and Cover Letters Will be Provided

The Iowa City Area Development (ICAD) Group and Search-Forward are hosting a workshop for all area job seekers on Thursday, June 11, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Iowa City Public Library Meeting Room A.

This 90 minute workshop and presentation, titled “Resumes and Cover Letters: Getting into the Yes Pile,” will be hosted by Margie Peskin, owner of Search-Forward.  Peskin will provide proven tips and techniques that she’s learned throughout the past ten years working in recruiting and placement.

“This event is catered to anyone going through a job search right now,” said Peskin.  “We’ll help them with resume writing as well as making sure their cover letters are getting noticed.”

The event is free and does not require pre-registration.

Events such as this are part of the ICAD Group’s mission to advance, develop and advocate for area workforce.  ICAD’s Workforce Business Services division works with multiple partners throughout the Corridor to host events and workshops for employers and job seekers.  In the past few months, ICAD Group has helped sponsor the Corridor Career Fair in Cedar Rapids as well as the Value of a Veteran event in Coralville.

Coming this summer, ICAD Group and Priority 1 of Cedar Rapids will again promote the benefits of working and living in the Corridor to summer interns through our “Real World: the Corridor” program and to bicyclists traveling through our state on RAGBRAI.
