WeLEAD Exec Graduates from OK Economic Program
3/22/2011Karen Lathrop, Executive Director of West Liberty Economic Area Development (WeLEAD), became a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute (OU/EDI) on March 17, 2011.
OU/EDI is a three-session program, each one week long, which provides a broad spectrum of advanced education for the economic development professional and is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
OU/EDI classes focus on three major core areas including Business Retention & Expansion, Real Estate and Finance, as well as areas of concentration in Marketing, Strategic Planning, Entrepreneurship and Managing Economic Development Organizations.
Students complete 117 hours of instructions selected from more than 50 seminars, workshops and discussions groups.

WeLEAD, (West Liberty Economic Area Development) is a non-profit 501(c)(3)corporation organized in 2006 to stimulate economic benefits in the West Liberty area. The objective is to create, develop, and maintain strong business relationships, and to establish a climate in which new and existing businesses can flourish.
The Iowa City Area Development (ICAD) Group works with WeLEAD on many of their economic development initiatives including business retention and expansion, workforce development, and business recruitment.
