Two Community Leaders Join ICAD Group Board

Janelle Rettig, Johnson County Supervisor and Tom Markus, City Manager of Iowa City, have been appointed to serve on the Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD Group) Board of Directors.
Rettig and Markus were appointed to the ICAD Board during the group’s most recent board meeting on January 14, 2011. Currently, 31 board members serve on the board.
"We look forward to Tom and Janelle’s input as ICAD Group continues its mission to serve the business development needs of interstate commerce companies in our area,” said Scott Fisher, ICAD Group Board Chair. "Both have generated a great deal of respect in the private and public sector and we welcome them to their new roles.”
Janelle Rettig took office as a Johnson County Supervisor in 2009 and was re-elected to a four year term in 2010. She serves as a member of the Iowa Natural Resources Commission and is also a member of the Johnson County Council of Governments Urban and Rural Policy Board. Ms. Rettig graduated from Knox College, in Galesburg, IL, with degrees in Political Science and Education.
Thomas M. Markus (Tom) began serving as City Manager of Iowa City on December 1, 2010. He has more than 38 years of experience in the city management profession. His previous experience includes 21+ years as City Manager in Birmingham, Michigan. Mr. Markus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Finance and Urban Studies Planning from Mankato State University (now known as Minnesota State University) and a Master of Public Administration degree from Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois.
