Approximately 75 New Jobs Available by Mid March

Quality Associates, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, will open a 245,000 square foot packaging facility in Iowa City in late March 2010.  The facility is located at 2630 Independence Avenue in the Scott Six Industrial Park located just off Scott Boulevard.

The focus of the new facility will be to provide functional, cost-competitive packing for retail consumer packaged goods.  Quality Associates’ new location will bring 75 new jobs to the area with 100% of the hiring being local.

“Quality Associates is excited to expand our business in the Iowa City market, further heightening our relationship with the Procter and Gamble Company,” said Delores Epps, President.  “For over two decades we have experienced tremendous growth.  Our success throughout the recent volatile economic environment is primarily due to our outstanding people and quality services.”

“The Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Technology Corridor will greatly enhance this base of quality people and we are pleased to be here,” added Epps.

Quality Associates recently received the 2009 Corporate Supplier Excellence Award from Procter and Gamble.  Less than one percent of P&G’s 80,000 global suppliers receive this award. 

Lisa Paterno, Quality Associates local Human Resources Manager, said that given the economy, it is exciting to be focusing on hiring.  “We’re looking for applicants who are enthused about being part of a start-up,” said Paterno.

Applications are now being accepted for Maintenance Technicians, Quality Inspectors/Auditors, Team Leaders, Shift Managers, and Fork Lift Drivers with scanning experience.  Cover letters and resumes can be e-mailed to jobs@quality-associates.com.

Quality Associates recognizes multiple local partners who were instrumental in this project including the Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD Group), Brenda Dodge and Iowa Workforce Development, Kirkwood Community College, Septagon construction, and Russ Gerdin, the property owner.

ICAD Group, including Joe Raso, DaLayne Williamson, and Eric Hanson, began working with Quality Associates last fall to help the company with locating a building for its facility and with its workforce needs.

During its most recent meeting with ICAD Group Quality Associates joined a local consortium promoting Iowa’s National Career Readiness Certificate.   “It’s encouraging to see a new company excited about Iowa’s National Career Readiness Certificate,” said Joe Raso, ICAD Group President.   “By recognizing the importance of this program, Quality Associates has joined a growing list of area employers dedicated to building skilled workforce in our area.”

Quality Associates currently operates facilities in Cincinnati; Riverside, Maryland (greater Baltimore area); and Reidsville, North Carolina (greater Greensboro area).  All the facilities are regulated and hold certificates through the FDA, USDA, and DEA.
