Congressman Dave Loebsack, the U.S. Representative for Iowa's 2nd congressional district will be in Tipton on Monday, April 18 as the Tipton Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) receives the state’s first-ever Shovel Ready Iowa Certification for its growing Business Park.
Representative Loebsack will join Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds and a host of regional and local economic development officials for the 2:00 P.M. ceremony at the Cedar County Courthouse in Tipton.
Shovel ready sites offer rapid turn-around for companies when constructing a new business because the property is already prepped and utilities installed. The Shovel Ready Iowa Certification is an independent, third-party certification program designed to reduce risk for local communities and property owners as well as companies researching the seven county Corridor Alliance region for business location or expansion.
“The city was very excited to be selected as a pilot community for the Shovel Ready Iowa project,” said Tipton City Manager Doug Boldt. “We think this is another positive step forward in the city’s efforts to promote economic development and show what the City of Tipton is all about.”
TEDCO’s financial commitment in completing professional studies on the property caps years of investment to date. The park, certified in the Rural Industrial category, provides a clean and attractive industrial environment that supports production and the retention and attraction of skilled workers. Additionally, companies will enjoy good visibility from roadways to allow easy access for employees and visitors.
The April 18th ceremony commemorating the state’s first-ever Shovel Ready Iowa Certification will be followed by a brief networking reception at A Place to Land Café.
