ICAD Group Hosting Social Media in the Workplace Lunch and Learn

Hiring, employment, handbooks, and advertising will all be addressed

ICAD Group is hosting an informational luncheon for local companies interested in learning more about social media issues in the workplace.

The luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, 2011, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Iowa City Commerce Center building, 325 East Washington, Iowa City.  Joseph Younker, from Bradley & Riley PC, will provide information regarding human resource issues and social media.   Mr. Younker has presented on social media topics at multiple Bradley & Riley seminars and will be making this same presentation at the Iowa State Bar Association this July.

“This luncheon will help area companies determine the best practices to create a workplace that is both fair and attractive to potential workers,” said Joe Raso, ICAD Group President.  “We want to be proactive and make sure our clients know the legal issues surrounding social media in the workplace before it becomes an issue.”

Hiring managers, human resource departments and business executives are all encouraged to attend.  During the luncheon, Younker will detail topics such as social media considerations during hiring and employment; employer considerations regarding advertising; policies and handbooks; and recent National Labor Relations Board developments.

DaLayne Williamson, ICAD Group Workforce Services Director, says companies are competing for talent and their policies on social media have an impact.  “Office environment and culture are just a few of the factors potential candidates consider when applying for jobs.  We want to help companies in the Iowa City area create work environments that are competitive, but protect their interests at the same time.”
