New Businesses Announced in Tiffin and Iowa City

Reception Hall, Bridal Shop, Yoga Studio, and New Restaurants on the List

Iowa City:

These three businesses have been announced for the Iowa City pedestrian mall area:  Mia Za's Italian restaurant, Hot House Yoga, and a clothing store named Inbox.

Tiffin:

Bella Sala reception and banquet facility will open next to XOXO Hugs and Kisses Bridal Boutique.

Other Tiffin development:

Other projects in Tiffin include a new high school, which will open for this school year.

Clear Creek Amana school district voters in 2006 approved a $25.5 million bond issue to pay for a new high school to be built in Tiffin and North Bend Elementary in North Liberty, which in June finished its first school year. The Tiffin high school is expected to be completed by the start of the school year later this month. Highway 6 in front of the new high school is being widened and a walkway tunnel under the road has been installed.

A variety of trails are also being completed in town that will eventually connect the Iowa City area to Kent Park in Oxford and later to the Amana Colonies. The city is also working on sanitary sewer and water main extensions.

“We have the trail moving and new playground equipment coming,” Mr. Phillips said. “We’re just trying to get things in, planting seeds, so to speak, and we expect some of them to start showing some fruit here before very long.”

The Villages of Tiffin, a major commercial and residential development that once included an outlet mall is also moving forward. Darryl High of High Development recently announced that Kum & Go will build a gas station on the parcel.
