10/1/2010

“Meet the Entrepreneurs” Scheduled October 12, 2010

The Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD Group), in partnership with the University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA), is launching its third series of networking events on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Vesta, 849 Quarry Road in Coralville.  No registration is required to attend.  The networking event is open to the public.

This popular series of networking events connects area workforce and alumni with unique categories of industry in our region.  Past mixers have featured renewable energy, gaming and computer simulation, and bio technology.  This fall, ICAD Group and UIAA are showcasing the innovation of our area’s entrepreneurs, as well as programs and support systems for budding business creators.

“ICAD Group is committed to developing a culture for business success in our region,” said DaLayne Williamson, Workforce Business Services Director at ICAD Group.  “We have not realized the full potential of our talent and the opportunities it might create with entrepreneurs, workforce and alumni all working together and sharing ideas.”

Confirmed attendees include Mark Ginsberg from MC Ginsberg; Troy Miller from Naomi’s Kitchen and Issac’s Creamery; Tyler Hakes with aboveground Media; John Slump and Jared Garfield of J&J Solutions and representatives from the Entrepreneurial Development Center from Cedar Rapids.

“Our goal is for the Iowa City area to be recognized globally for creating and growing innovative companies, big or small, engaged in interstate commerce,” added Williamson.
