ICAD Group and UIAA Partner for New Programs this Spring
2/28/2013Workforce Webinar March 6; Networking Event April 8
The Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD Group), in partnership with the University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA), announces a new series of events for networking, community engagement and workforce development.
Starting March 6, ICAD Group and the UIAA will host a series of webinars for job seekers and those looking to update their resumes and social media profiles. Four webinars will run through June and are available to any member of the UIAA.
DaLayne Williamson, ICAD Group Workforce Business Services Director, says these webinars will provide tips and best practices for becoming a better job applicant. “In working with our Corridor Job Club this past year, we’ve discovered that job seekers need to learn more about social media and networking when it comes to finding a job,” said Williamson. “Our partnership with the UIAA brings important career development tools to our local workforce.”
Complete information on each webinar is available on the UIAA website. Webinars will run from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Central. The schedule includes:
• March 6: LinkedIn Makeover
• April 3: 5 Steps to Your Personal Brand
• May 1: Network Professionally with Facebook
• June 5: Make Your Network Work for You
Additionally, ICAD Group is again helping host a series of networking events for alumni and the public to better engage local workforce in the community. The first event will be held on Monday, April 8, and will feature Dan Reed, UI vice president for research and economic development, and David Hensley, UI interim associate vice president for economic development, discussing the future of business and entrepreneurship in Iowa’s Creative Corridor.
Williamson says past networking events have attracted a cross section of local professionals and recent grads. “We are happy to showcase local companies and the innovation of Iowa’s Creative Corridor,” said Williamson. “The event in April will help connect many UI grads living in the area and introduce them to new strategies for economic development within the University of Iowa.”
Registration for this Hawkeye Happy Hour will be available by calling 800/IOWALUM. The event is open to the public with pre-registration and will run from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on April 8 at the IC CoLab, 316 E Court, in Iowa City.
