Area Job and Resource Fair October 6th

More than 50 Employers and Resource Providers Participating

A Veteran’s Job and Resource Fair will be held this Thursday, October 6, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Iowa National Guard Armory Complex in Iowa City.

The event is free and open to the public.  It will provide opportunities for all job seekers to meet with employers as well as veterans to speak with local service and resource providers on topics such as health care, counseling, training benefits, assistance with service-connected disability claims and more.

This summer, the state of Iowa welcomed home 2,900 members of the Iowa National Guard deployed in the largest call-up since World War II.  While many of these men and women returned home to families and jobs, some are struggling to re-enter the workforce.

Attendees are also invited to participate in a workshop at 3:30 p.m. on how to best utilize the job fair.

The event is sponsored in part by IowaWORKS, Kirkwood Community College, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Kaplan University, the Employers’ Council of Iowa, ITT Technical Institute, Iowa City Area Development Group, the Press Citizen, and Clear Channel Radio.
