Iowa City Area Workforce

The Iowa City area is strategically located in the center of the largest population region in the state of Iowa, attracting workers from a 60-mile radius. With a regional population of more than 400,000, and double-digit growth every decade, the Iowa City area has consistently attracted knowledge workers for our growing companies.

Our area workforce is rated 22% higher than national figures for quality, with a stability rate (turnover) 11% better than national norms.  In fact, the productivity of the workers in our area is nearly 10% higher than national norms.   This is a figure local companies can see going directly to their bottom lines as they spend less on employee training while realizing higher production.   (2006 North American Data Study)
